Traditional or Infared?
Traditional saunas and infrared saunas offer distinct experiences and benefits, each catering to different preferences and needs. Traditional saunas, often referred to as Finnish saunas, use a heater to warm the air inside the room, typically reaching temperatures between 150 to 195 degrees Fahrenheit. This hot air then heats the body through convection and conduction, creating a deep, relaxing sweat. Traditional saunas are renowned for their ability to promote relaxation, improve circulation, and help with muscle recovery. However, the high temperatures and humidity levels can be intense for some users and may not be suitable for everyone.
In contrast, infrared saunas operate at lower temperatures, usually ranging from 120 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit, and use infrared heaters to emit radiant heat that directly warms the body rather than the surrounding air. This method of heating allows for a more tolerable and less humid environment, which can be especially appealing for those sensitive to high heat or who prefer a gentler experience. Infrared saunas are praised for their ability to penetrate deeper into the skin, potentially offering more targeted relief for sore muscles and joint pain. Additionally, they typically heat up faster and are often more energy-efficient. However, some users might find the lack of traditional sauna ambiance and the more focused heat less immersive compared to the enveloping warmth of a traditional sauna.

Thermowood
Thermowood is wood that has been heat-treated at high temperatures (200–220°C) without oxygen, altering its chemical and physical structure to enhance durability and performance. This process makes the wood more resistant to decay, rot, and insects—ideal for humid environments like saunas. It also improves dimensional stability, reducing the risk of warping or cracking, while giving the wood a richer, more uniform appearance. Thermowood offers increased fire resistance and, when sourced responsibly, can be a more sustainable option due to lower emissions during production.

Why are barrel & cube Saunas so effective?
HEATS QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY
The cube design of the sauna, with less unused space (imagine a circle inside a square), allows the heater to operate faster and more efficiently. In a square sauna, heat tends to get trapped in the ceiling. However, in a cube sauna, the heat is pushed back down along the curved sides, circulating into the sauna. This design promotes effective heat distribution, as new heat rises from the heater.
REQUIRES NO MAINTENANCE
Barrel & Cube saunas naturally shed water and can handle a substantial snow load due to their structural integrity. The polymer support cradles let you put the barrel on any flat surface, and the Thermowood is naturally resistant to water and insects.
SAVES ENERGY
Because there is less unused airspace to heat, less energy is required to heat the room. The thick staves are excellent insulators, and the sauna's exterior will remain cool.
ACCOMMODATES TEMPERATURE FLUX
The ball-and-socket assembly of a cube sauna lets the wood expand and contract within the steel bands, creating a tight seal that won't shatter.
