BUILT SUSTAINABLY USING NATURAL MATERIALS
Agean partners with Helka Saunas, a brand inspired by nature and rooted in Baltic sauna traditions. Built with sustainable, natural materials, Helka saunas are designed to enhance wellness, promote relaxation, and encourage quality time with loved ones. Available in both barrel and cube styles, each sauna offers a unique, customizable wellness experience. Crafted from 100% natural Thermowood—produced through a chemical-free heat and steam process—these saunas use certified Nordic Spruce sourced from sustainably managed Northern European forests. Thermally modified spruce provides greater durability, stability, and visual appeal compared to traditional timber. Helka saunas are also pre-fabricated for easy assembly, with roof shingles included for added protection and insulation.
Thermowood
Thermowood is wood that has been heat-treated at high temperatures (200–220°C) without oxygen, altering its chemical and physical structure to enhance durability and performance. This process makes the wood more resistant to decay, rot, and insects—ideal for humid environments like saunas. It also improves dimensional stability, reducing the risk of warping or cracking, while giving the wood a richer, more uniform appearance. Thermowood offers increased fire resistance and, when sourced responsibly, can be a more sustainable option due to lower emissions during production.

Why are barrel & cube Saunas so effective?

HEATS QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY
The cube design of the sauna, with less unused space (imagine a circle inside a square), allows the heater to operate faster and more efficiently. In a square sauna, heat tends to get trapped in the ceiling. However, in a cube sauna, the heat is pushed back down along the curved sides, circulating into the sauna. This design promotes effective heat distribution, as new heat rises from the heater.
REQUIRES NO MAINTENANCE
Barrel & Cube saunas naturally shed water and can handle a substantial snow load due to their structural integrity. The polymer support cradles let you put the barrel on any flat surface, and the Thermowood is naturally resistant to water and insects.
SAVES ENERGY
Because there is less unused airspace to heat, less energy is required to heat the room. The thick staves are excellent insulators, and the sauna's exterior will remain cool.
ACCOMMODATES TEMPERATURE FLUX
The ball-and-socket assembly of a cube sauna lets the wood expand and contract within the steel bands, creating a tight seal that won't shatter.
